Additional Utah Environmental Justice Provisions

Utah’s Children and The Environment: In partnership with EPA, Utah Department of Health engaged in a survey of many different sources of pollution throughout the state of Utah with an aim towards protecting the children of Utah. In the process, it produced geographic and demographic data about drinking water contamination, pesticide use, ozone and particulate matter air pollution, and radon levels.

EPA Performance Partnership Agreement: As part of Department of Environmental Quality (UDEQ)’s Performance Partnership Agreement (PPA) with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for Fiscal Year 2021, UDEQ agreed to “conduct all of [its] base regulatory programs within the framework and spirit of environmental justice.” Under the PPA, EPA has offered to provide environmental justice training to UDEQ personnel.
